The Muggling of The Dairy

13.05.14

“Amber” Mum shouted.
“What Mum”. I yelled back at her. I dragged my feet all the way to the lounge where mum was sitting. “Can you please go down the to the dairy so us old ladies can have our cuppa with some gingernuts.” Mum Shouted at me.
“Mum there is no need to shout mum, I am right here.” I said to her.
“Just hurry up and go and get my wallet .”
I stomped away to go and get mum’s money.

I was aggressively charging down the street then I finally made it to the dairy. I went down the biscuit aisle. Until I heard someone breathing really fast. I looked in between the gaps of the biscuits, when I saw a tall bulky man wearing a full black mask. I slid down the side of the aisle and then as I slowly crept to the beginning of the aisle I too a little peek at the man trying to get as much information about his features as possible. I still can’t see anything.

I Walk and reach to a can of baked beans or spaghetti. It drops but I Catch it when it is about 5 centimetres off the ground. The man yells out to his men to come and check around the dairy and once I see the foot of a man step out from the corner I grab it and drag him to the biscuit aisle. I start smashing him in the face with the can and he falls dead silent on the ground. “Now all I have to do is get rid of the other man”. I said to myself as quietly as possible. I finally hear the man get into the van I sneak around the corner as the man goes to the van to get a weapon. I run into the middle aisle.

I am breathing fiercely hoping the robber does not see me get out of the corner, I smack him behind his head with a can of coke I found under the shelf of the biscuit isle. I ran for my life, hoping he did not see what direction i ran off in.

I saw the man at the corner of my street, and then I jumped into the closes bush I saw. He ran past the bush. Then suddenly a siren sound came up the road. It was a police car he was surrounded I jumped out of the bush and then ran to the cop car. The skidded and blocked every possible way the robber can get away. I shouted, "That's the guy, that's the guy. Arrest him." He was looking around. Looking for some where to run to.

The policeman took his cuffs out and pushed him to the ground. The policeman said all the stuff that a policeman say. "Stay down and blah. That's what they say right.Anyway..."

I ran home and told my mum what had happened down at the dairy. "Seriously, well I am not sending you out there again.

Aurora Miracle

While the storm rumbled on, the rain splattering on to my bedroom window and the noise of the wind blowing through the branches of the trees. I slept on peacefully through the night.

Arising from a shock. I sat up in bed for a few minutes. Then realised a bright thing in the sky. It was a swirl of multicoloured lights glittering on the surface of the dark night. My eyes widened. Then a ball of snow was thrown at my window. I looked down. My eyes widened more. My mouth dropped. With one tooth missing. I smiled.

I ran down the stairs, up the hallway, through the kitchen, down the next lot of stairs, through the lounge, and finally to the front door. I ran to the backyard. I was as cold as a drop of ice. The sky still lighted up. I turned the corner and then felt something touch my leg. I looked down and there it was. “A snowman” I said sounding amazed. “Hi!” It said chirpily. “Hiiiii!” I said, “You talk”, “yes, my name is Flaky”. He said. “My name is Franny.” I said to him.

Mum and dad ran outside, “ Franny, where are you!” Mum shouted. “Back here mum”. I said. Mum and dad came dashing to the backyard. “What are you doing out here darling.” Dad said. “It was a snowman, he had a banana nose, and chocolate button eyes. He had noodles for his mouth, and his name was flaky.” I said giggling.

“Honey you must of been sleepwalking.” Mum said. “No, see look he is right here.” I said looking down. “where darling, there is nothing there.” Dad said. “Come on we are going to freeze out here, we better make our way back inside now.” Mum said. She was shivering.

As we walked back into the house, I slowly turned back an there he was, AGAIN! I knew I was not dreaming. I giggled, and then he giggled to. I waved goodbye then he.... he disappeared into thin air. I felt a gush of wind blow past me. Then I heard, “Bye, Bye Franny, I will be back. and thanks, thanks for believing in me.” Whispered the wind  into my ear. “You’re welcome, See you next time.” I replied.

When we got back to my room, mum tucked me in and kissed me good night. As she walked out, I asked her, “mum do you believe in snowmen?” She replied, “ I don’t know, honey.” “Well, he will be back and you will believe, like I do.” I said. “Honey, dreams are free.” Mum Said “Goodnight.” I said. Mum walked out shutting the door behind her.

I looked to the ceiling and said quietly. “I Believe.”

Why Children Should and Should Not Be Allowed To Drive.

In this essay I am going to explain why children can and cannot be allowed to drive.

They can get better at driving. If they get older they would be an expert at driving when they are older. For example, if your child has netball practise or any kind of sport practise, their parents do not need to worry about dropping them off to the place. This is a perfect idea because the the child will be more useful and they won’t need to bother their parents anymore.

They can go to school earlier. Mum and dad have already left for work and there is no one to drop me off to school I can drive myself and I will not be late. If I need to see the teacher to catch up on some of my maths, writing etc, they can go early. So when they are older and in college they can drive themselves to school.

Mum or dad do not need to worry about dropping their children to places. If we are going somewhere with our friends really early, we do not need to bother our parents if they are still sleeping. If our mum and dad are still sleeping and we need to wake them up, we can just drive yourself.  So we can get used to driving ourselves everywhere when we are older.

Those are the three reasons why children should be allowed to drive. Now I am going to explain why it is a bad idea for children to drive.

They could crash. If the child cannot see and him/her accidentally turn into a lane without checking if there is any cars in their blind spot, they could crash. If no one checked the mirrors on the side and the car is speeding behind you  and then you switch lanes and then the  car behind you will hit you from the back and you could have a serious accident. It is not a good idea for children to drive because they would crash and when they start driving when they are older they will be scarred with that memory.

They are too short to see over the steering wheel or to reach the pedals or see the mirrors on the side. If the kid cannot reach the steering wheel they cannot   be able to steer the car and then they will crash. The child hops into the car and tries to stir the car and then they will try but they just can not reach and end up crashing. So they will know to sleep more to grow taller.  It is against the law to be under 16 years of age and driving. Underage driving is illegal unless you are 16 or over. It will be a high chance of you going to jail or even ending up in court. So we can learn from our mistakes when we are older.

To conclude this essay, I believe that children should be allowed to drive because when they crash or make a mistake on the road, they can learn from their mistakes.

Green Day

Ko te Ratu 18 o te poutu-te-rangi o tenei ra.
Donegals, Tipperary's, Emeralds, Shamrocks, Limericks and the leprechauns.
‘Happy St Patricks Day everyone’.

The special day started off with a Mass. During mass one child from each class took a green painted hat, that had virtuous words that described Saint Patrick. After Mass, it was time for the short interval. Following this  the school made their way to the front of room 4 and 5. Then each student was put into one of 5 different groups. Darrelle, Natalia, Agnes, Soana, John, Dehnyse, Carlos and Myself were the leaders of each group. The names of the groups were the shamrocks, donegals, leprechauns, limericks and the emeralds. The reason for the teams were so the younger students have senior people to guide them to do the right thing. All of the groups were named after Irish things.

As the Donegals walked into room 8, our group seated ourselves down into a chair in front of a desk that had tray with a face that had goggle eyes, a cloud of orange hair, strips of  green paper,  dark green strip of green papers, Popsicle sticks,  gold squares, shamrock papers, plates of glitter and pva glue. The activity was to make leprechaun bookmarks. First of all we had to color in the top of the drawn on pencil line with the green vivid, then we had to fold over the Popsicle stick, and then we added a dark green strip under the light green strip, then we all added the strips of paper, the next thing to do was to add the face with google eyes but before that we put the cloud of hair behind the head. Then we added a gold buckle on top of the strips and then under the leprechauns face we stuck on two cardboard shamrocks. And for the final touch up was a pinch of glitter. When everyone finished their bookmarks Jordi, Destiny and I helped Mrs Dines distribute more things into the trays for the next groups to use.

Our next stop was room 1 which was bowling. This time is was girls against boys. All the girls were sure that we would win the competition. And so it was the girls challenging the boys. Cheering, screaming, clapping all of us on our knees thinking of the right time to bowl the ball. Each player had the same amount of turns to come up and try and bowl the bowling pins over. We all had 4 turns then the bell rang and then Ms Craig called out the total of the points. “16, 21, 32 to the boys”, said Ms Craig, and “ 21, 28, 34, 36 to the girls, said Ms Craig. It was official that the girls had won.

Then we made our way to room 2 which was to create a shamrock that has virtuous words over the shamrock and to conclude to making our masterpiece we stuck on a straw so that we could hold it.

After we completed all activities we all gathered together in the front of room 4,5 and 6. Ms Bullot announced the points, and in first place was ....... donegals!!!!! I stood up and shouted from the top of my lungs. “We won” I said. I ran to my team and gave them all a hi 5. I was as proud as ever. Being the leader of a team felt really good. After that long day we all received a ice block.

World of Books

In a library it is like a world of books and information that may be useful for your brain. A library can be used for different things like, studying, reading, and also meeting up with friends.

A library is partitioned for many reasons. Non - fiction is a part of the library that you would need to go to if you were looking for  facts about  the war or animals. This segment of the library is made up of books that have factual information about a specific subject.

Fiction is also another section in the library.  creative  writing, Narratives, and fairy tales can be found in this part of the library.  Fiction books are made up stories of  illusory events  and tales that are made to believe but they are really not.
If you need any help on what section you think might help you, there is always  people to support you. These people are known as librarians.  A librarian's job is to give information to a person that needs help. Like when students from college and primary  need help with their homework they are there to help and guide through your struggles. They are also there to make sure that everyone is safe and happy.

Libraries are interesting places. You can also meet new people. At a library you can multitask you can learn, play and also read as well as talk to your friends.

A Dog Ate My Homework.

It all started last Friday. There I was stepping along confidently, clutching my homework in my hand. I was pleased with it. I’d spent hours finishing it the night before.
Then I heard it ! A low growl....

I looked down slowly and silently to find the neighbourhood’s worst known dog tugging viciously at my homework. Deciding to take instant action,  I snapped at him hoping it will scare him off. But NO! I pulled  on my school work and  still it didn’t get the reaction I had hoped for. “I’ve worked hard on this, I am not just going to give up on it”. I yelled. The only sound I heard was the  growls that seem to get  louder and louder. I looked down at his drooling mouth dribbling with saliva.I yelled  at it, but still it didn’t  work.  Cars passing by  looked at me in a weird way thinking no doubt that  I am some kind of lunatic. I felt really embarrassed.
“You have caused me enough embarrassment, it is time to settle this once and for all”. I screamed at the dog. I dragged the dog to school with my homework still in his mouth.

Finally once I got into class, the dog let go of my work and rushed to another boys paper hanging down from his hand and began fiercely tugging on it. I laughed and laughed, desperately  holding my stomach.   I handed my paper to the teacher all torn and sloppy with disgusting dog saliva, and all the teacher could say was “eeewwww, goodness gracious me, I am very disgusted”.  Her eyes met mine and there was a empty silence, I swallowed ... “My dog ate my homework!”.

Our last class was room 6. In room 6 we had to paint a small shamrock. Each side of the shamrock represented God The Father, God The Son and God The Holy Spirit. We all did different colors. To finish off with our shamrock painting we punched a hole in the top of the shamrock and we threaded a piece of small ribbon in the hole so we could hang it on our door or on the wall.

To conclude the day we all gathered in the front of room 4 and 5. And for all our hard work we got a ice block each. The team that won over all was the Donegals my team. "We all cheered and and gave thanks to the teachers for planning this awesome day.

How Do You Express Your Feelings?

There are different ways that people can express their feelings. They can express their feeling through body language or through speech.

Many times when people express their feelings for example happiness the person you are resulting your feelings to may see a smile being formed on your face and even a bit of laughter. People usually are happy when they are around their friends or around something they like.

Often when people are delivering a bit of anger they show some aggression that may lead to the use of inappropriate language and even furniture or objects been damaged at school or at home. Humans may even take their anger out on the person they are angry at by being physical. When the person gets physical, it may look like a person being punched or been hit by the angry person. The cause of the person being angry maybe because he or she might of been teased.

Sometimes when people are scared of anything for example of a bully, the person would lock themselves in the toilet or somewhere they are not in sight. Usually you can tell when the person is scared is when their eyes are watery from them being crying and they also may have red eyes from rubbing them or from crying.

When people are sad they usually have water in their eyes and even if their eyes are red.If people are sad it usually is caused by teasing, bullying and even through someone who has passed on in their family.

There are many different feelings that people may have and many different ways that they express it. The most common feelings that people in the world have are happiness, sadness, anger and even scared.

Going Back In Time.

We have been learning about the Fencibles who settled in Panmure along time ago.  Many of these men known also as the retired soldiers came to New Zealand with their families to begin a new life.  Many of them were strong Irish Catholic’s.
On their journey on tall sail ships, they brought as much of their belongings as they could.
Recently we visited the Panmure Stone Cottage which was full of items from the past, representing the time of the Fencibles.
Below is a PMI representing key ideas following that visit.
